Couples Portrait Session Turns Into A Proposal At StoneWind Retreat

Zach reached out to me about 4 months before he decided to propose to Jessica. They lived just north of Little Rock but frequently took trips up to Northwest Arkansas. However, this weekend getaway to StoneWind Retreat was the one he would pop the question.

How to disguise a photo shoot as a proposal

We planned and decided the proposal should happen during golden hour, after a fun day, and right before dinner. We planned it together as a couples portrait shoot for them and about 15 minutes into it the proposal would happen. That’s exactly how it went down, I arrived at their yurt and took them around the property for photos. 15 minutes in when I had found a good spot for the proposal I asked Jessica for solo shots and asked her to look toward nearby trees. This gave Zach plenty of time to take out the ring and get down on one knee. When I saw he was good I backed away and the magic happen!
